Salvia ‘Ember’s Wish’ produces clusters of coral red flowers. Flowers from early summer into autumn. Superb plant for pollinators as bees love them. Salvia ‘Ember’s Wish’ and Salvia ‘Wendy’s Wish’ was  discovered by a Salvia enthusiast in Australia by the name of Wendy. Wendy named both plants in honour of her favourite charity ‘Make-A-Wish’ with proceeds from her royalties being donated to the charity. Salvia ‘Ember’s Wish’ is named after two Make a Wish children, Emma and Brett.

Salvia plants are relatively low-maintenance and easy to care for, but they still require some attention to keep them healthy and thriving. Here are some tips for caring for salvia plants:

Watering: Salvia plants prefer well-draining soil, so be sure not to over-water them. Water deeply once or twice a week, depending on weather conditions and soil moisture levels.

Pruning: Prune salvia plants twice a year. Once at the end of May when the first shoots appear and then again in Early June once flowering has finished, this is known as the ‘Hampton Chop’

Sunlight: Salvia plants prefer full sunlight, so make sure they get at least 6-8 hours of direct sun per day.

Soil: Salvia plants prefer well-draining soil, so make sure the soil in their planting area is loose and crumbly, with good drainage.

Mulching: In the autumn mulch around the base of the salvia with a layer of organic matter, such as shredded leaves or wood chips. This will give it protection during the winter and give it the best chance of survival

Note that these ratings are only a general guide, and many factors can affect a plant’s hardiness, such as soil type, exposure to wind and sun, and moisture levels. It’s always a good idea to do some research on a specific plant’s hardiness requirements and to provide appropriate care to ensure its survival.
