Inside 2026: Salvia ‘Argentine Skies’ – Rare Light-Blue Beauty

We’re thrilled to present the final instalment of our Inside 2026 collection: Salvia guaranitica ‘Argentine Skies’ — a beautifully distinctive variety available exclusively from Middleton Nurseries and reserved for our Garden Club members.

Originating from Argentina, this salvia stands apart from the usual deep-blue varieties. ‘Argentine Skies’ boasts a delicate, light-blue hue that floats above its dark calyces, bringing a fresh, airy touch to borders and adding a sense of movement and elegance to any garden.

Reaching approximately 90–120cm in height, it forms a graceful, upright clump with gently arching stems and aromatic foliage — perfect for adding height, rhythm, and late-season colour to mixed borders. From midsummer through to the first frosts, it flowers generously, creating a soft haze that harmonises beautifully with roses, grasses, and other perennials.

Exclusivity is part of its appeal. Stocks are limited, and as a Garden Club release, ‘Argentine Skies’ is available only through Middleton Nurseries. Growing it means adding something quietly special to your garden — a refined, collector-worthy salvia that stands apart from the commonplace.

Why ‘Argentine Skies’ deserves a place in your garden:

🌿 Long flowering season – elegant sky-blue blooms from midsummer to frost.

🌿 Architectural height – ideal for the middle or back of borders

🌿 Pollinator favourite – irresistible to bees and butterflies

🌿 Light, airy habit – adds movement and softness to planting schemes

🌿 Low maintenance – thrives in full sun with well-drained soil

Planting & Care

🌱 Plant from late May to early June, once the risk of frost has passed. Later purchases can be kept frost-free and planted the following spring.

🌱 Choose a sunny, sheltered spot with fertile, well-drained soil.

🌱 Pinch young plants to encourage bushier growth. Deadhead regularly to prolong flowering, and wait until late spring before cutting back established plants.

🌱 In colder areas, provide winter mulch or protection.

‘Argentine Skies’ combines height, elegance and an exceptional shade of blue — a perennial that brings calm sophistication and months of colour to the garden.

And remember, this variety is exclusive to Middleton Nurseries Garden Club members. You won’t find it elsewhere.

If you’re drawn to plants that feel both effortless and extraordinary, this is your moment.
